I think you should speak to a sheitel macher since prices have gone up drastically since COVID and people on here may not necessarily know the field. Also please don't go for the cheapest option, get something a little better. Set her up right so she has something decent that she can feel good in and will last a few years.

Chassidish here I started off with 3 wigs. Also I recently got a new wig Eva & Chloe Lacetop brown for $3600. I don’t remember the length but it comes up mid-chest.

I would rather 2 wigs than 3 but cheaper/ lesser quality. I only own 2 & really don't need more. Sorry I can't help with pricing. You can get a really cheap wig ( like under $100 synthetic) to wear as a fall for bad weather.

If your the giver $9k gezunteirheit.
If you're collecting than 2 shaitels totalling close to 5k is more reasonable.

People giving tzedaka won’t be bothered by the numbers?

Personally I think that's a lot to ask from other people. But if the people donating are wealthy they might not mind.

Two wigs or even one sounds reasonable I do not think we need to buy into this expensive wig trend
I know a kallah just got lace Irene for 900 it really doesn’t have to be so crazy
Whether u spend a lot for a wig or a little they still aren’t Gina last forever

One might argue that this Kallah should be washing her own wigs. (yes that was snarky).

So from these conversations. It seems like $6-7000 for wigs would not be called ostentatious.

Wow! I’m saving myself a huge expense by wearing synthetic. I wonder what I’ll do when I marry off my daughter…

If she's looking for a 20 inch wig she's not chassidish

Lol I’m Chassidish and I wear 24” wigs. My sister and SIL’s wear 20-23” wigs.
From my husbands side, which is much more Chassidish, sports lengths from an inch above the shoulders to 30”.

I just bought a new Irene lace top 24inch for 2350. Where is everyone getting such high numbers? I got it at a sale, but there are sales all the time and diff places. And lace front is usually cheaper. None lace even cheaper sometimes. Also, when I got married, I got 2 wigs, one shabbos and one weekday. I bought a third one at a sale after a year of marriage. Regular Bais Yakov type. My friend who got 3 wigs regretted buying all 3 at once because she didn’t like how heavy it was, and the coloring etc and she only knew after she got married and started wearing it everyday.

Why in the world does a kallah need 3 wigs?

Even girls who don't take tzedaka only get 2. It's a problem when tzedaka organizations raise the standards

And I would say that a kallah should get one better quality more expensive one, and one cheaper one. She does not need 2 $3000 wigs

Yikes we’re regular yeshivish balebatish and get 2 wigs, one expensive one cheap. If we were taking Tzedakah I can’t imagine why we’d need MORE than that!

If I had donated for hachnasas kallah and found out that's where the money went I would be bothered

I don't know exact amounts . I have not bought a wig in many years. I would think 2 good quality wigs is plenty

I think 2 wigs, one better one cheaper totalling 5 or 5.5k. not 6 or 7k. These numbers are insane. Half of kallahs end up not liking one of their wigs anyway.

I disagree, I think it is a lot and unnecessary.

There is no reason she cannot get one wig, or max one wig and a cheap fall. I think 3k is reasonable for a good wig and to include any extras it may need like coloring. The MOST I would ask is for 4k to include a fall and that’s being generous to whoever’s giving, in my opinion.

One wig is completely acceptable- for the 2 days it’s being washed which she’ll probably do herself because how is she affording $50 wash n sets, she can wear a scarf on her head. It’s ridiculous to say she NEEDS two.

If someone was collecting tzedaka for this and told me between 6-7k I would be shocked and slightly offended that they would even ask me for that much.
