Does anyone have a good recipe? If it doesn't call for margarine, that would be even better...
TIA!

I have one that calls for margarine but I'll post it anyway in case you're interested. Its really good!
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 cup oats
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 stick margarine, melted (I melt it in the pan I'm using, while the oven is preheating)
Mix together. Put half of mixture in round cake pan or 8x8 and pat down.
2 granny smith apples, peeled and sliced thin
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
Mix together and put on top of oat mixture. Sprinkle remaining oat mixture on top. Bake at 375 for 45 -50 minutes.

Thanks so much for posting your recipe, stargazer. I didn't really expect to find a recipe without margarine, and your recipe looks great. I'm going to make it today I"YH.
Tichelqueen, I just took my stick of margarine out to defrost, so I checked how many grams it is for you. 1 stick = 113 grams.

Mine calls for marge, but you can probably use crisco. If you wanted to use oil, I don't think it would work as well.

here is an apple cranberry kugel with oil only:
I make it all the time and everybody loves it!
3 baking apples, peeled and sliced
1 can jellied (or whole) cranberries.
MIxture:
1 C. oatmeal
2/3 C. brown sugar
a bit less than 1 C. of flour
1/3 C. oil ( I usually only put 1/4 C.)
1 tsp. cinammon
PUt 2/3 of mixture at bottom of greased pan
place apples, then cranberry
put 1/3 mixture on top
bake 350 for 1 - 1.5 hrs.

I just tried this now. It looked too small for a 9 x 13, so I used a 9" square glass dish. It fit very nicely. (It also smells & looks good. I'm waiting for it to cool a bit so I can taste. no margarine = a lot less noshing guilt )
