I have been home since covid started and wanted to go back to working. The job I had 4 years ago I was working at a preschool with 3 year olds and the hours were short and they paid very well. I was a Teacher's assistant. I called the same place and asked if they had anything available and it seemed like they didn't. They said to put my name on the sub list. I am wondering if the schools pay subs more money then teacher's assistant. It's hard for me to find a job with the same working hours and some places I have to travel far and it may not be worth the drive back and forth. I did speak to someone and she claimed the schools sometimes pay 25 dollars an hour. I am not sure if that is true. Please clarify. Thanks

I guess it depends on which city you live in. According to some posters here, you can get paid way way more than that for subbing in playgroups in Lakewood for example, whereas that would not be true in my city.
Where do you live OP?

I think that number is a little exaggerated!
I had a few subs recently I paid between $40 and $50/h!

I am in Queens NY. I did hear from you a friend in Far Rockaway that some schools pay 25 dollars an hour. I will ask around. Just wondering if it's better to get on the sub list instead of having a steady job. Also how much do the schools pay for a teacher's assistant for preschool? I was working at Darchei In Far Rockaway in 2019 and I believe I got paid around 15 dollars an hour after taxes. Was around 1700 a month. Hours from 9:00-2:30. I am not sure what the schools here pay. I will ask. Thanks for all the help
