Grape Juice Chicken

2 large onions
oil to fry onions
4 skinned chicken bottoms or 4 1/2 lb chicken cutlets cut into strips
1 1/2 cups dark grape juice
1 1/2 tsp. salt

In large pot, saute onions until golden. Add chicken skin-side down and brown for a few minutes. Add grape juice and salt and bring to a boil. Lower heat and mix.

Cooking times: chicken bottoms: 1 1/2 - 2 hours, cutlets: 3/4 hour.

This turns into sweet purple chicken that is liquidy and can be used at the seder.

question you simmer the cutlets for 45 mins in the pot or in the stove?

in the pot. The recipe stays in the same pot the whole time.
Did anyone make this last year and know how far in advance I can do this? I don't want to cook this during the seder. Can I do it on Friday for the first seder?

rivki, I freeze everything! I just cook/bake stuff before yom tov, put it in a pan, cover and freeze. a few hours before I want to serve it I take it out, put it on the blech/hotplate and rewarm. I refuse to spend yom tov and chol hamoed in the kitchen. it's the only time we have to spend as a family, really relaxed and I will not waste that time cooking.

Which is better, whole chicken pieces or cutlets? Last year I made the chicken pieces.

I also made the chicken pieces (dark meat only). I imagine it's better that way. I plan to do it again this time. noone here really goes for cutlets.
