Even the most LWMO people I know won't take it, and if anyone sees it in your house they won't eat by you anymore.

AFAIK, it's considered a "Conservative hechsher", as in "close enough".

I do not know the rabbi in charge, and I do not want to say anything bad about him personally. I know that kashrut has a lot of politics involved. I don't know if the products are mamash treif, not supervised to Orthodox standards, or what.

I'm just reporting on what I know of community standards. When in doubt, always ask your rabbi and go by the approved list of the Va'ad you hold by.

Really ? The Scandinavian jellies from trade j are that hechsher, and my father , who's a posek says it's good .

No, those are Scroll K which is good, not to be confused with Tablet K which is not recommended. They are drawn differently.

No, we don't use Tablet K.

But not because its "Conservative" or because Conservative Jews are somehow lax in kashrut. But because Conservative Jews interpret halacha, particularly halacha regarding cheese, differently.

Rennet traditionally came from the intestines of an animal. Even Orthodox halacha has long held that the amount of animal enzyme required in cheese-making is too miniscule to be considered mixing milk and meat, and allowed the use of cow rennet. The issue is that rennet was often from pigs or other non-kosher animals, or animals not shechted kasher. As a result, they required a Jew to add the rennet, under supervision.

Apparently all hard cheese made in the United States is produced using microbial or plant enzymes, not animal rennet Thus, the Conservative movement, as a whole (remember, they're more centralized than Orthodox) holds that basically all hard cheese is kosher. Tablet-K thus doesn't require a Jew to add the rennet, or it to be added under supervision, so long as the ingredients and the facilities are kosher.

So, long story short, is there anything actually treyf about the cheese? Almost certainly not. Is it acceptable? No.

I'm not sure who accepts this hechsher, honestly.
