What are the fires from? Why can't the machinery move debris, so the responders don't risk their lives?
Just trying to understand. It's been 3 days Sad

There are heavy HVAC central air machines hanging by shredded wires. Did you see the pictures?

Only Jewish news sites reported that.
I didn’t see it anywhere else so you have to wonder if it was true.

Chessed shel emes made it sound like they are recovering Body parts at this point while searching and there is a fear like September 11 it will be difficult to identify everyone.

Also ppl were pulled out immediately. There was a first hand account were A man described pulling ppl out. But that was only immediately after ppl that could climb out.

The sound of banging was reported everywhere. For example https://www.nytimes.com/live/2.....lapse

I don’t have access to the article.
I was referring to a video of a firefighter digging beneath the rubble saying that had made contact with a women. He made it sound like a women speaking more then banging. No one else reported that video.

Other articles I read said animal trained to recognize human speech found nothing.
So they were looking for banging and digging there. But there was no way to know if it was falling debris or twisting metal. But I haven’t read of them talking to a women in the rubble like the video linked above.

I believe is saw that it is 30 foot pile of debris. The anguish the families must feel waiting for answers is beyond.

I read in the New York Times that they heard a women’s voice but didn’t know how to proceed because she went silent.

I never understood why such a process is so slow. Isn’t time off essence? Could we not use machinery to help? If this would have happened god forbid in Israel would the procedure be handled differently?

If you take the time to read the many answers on this thread, that address your question, you will understand. It’s easy to be a Monday morning quarterback. I’m sure that the rescuers are doing everything that they can safely do, without risking more potential harm to those buried in the rubble, or to themselves.
No one wants more of a tragedy than they’re already dealing with.

These things don't take so long, I really don't understand why they are moving slower than other situations. Something feels off with the slowness.

Why don't you go there and tell them how to do it? These rescuers who dedicate their life to this, the rescue groups that flew in from Israel and Mexico, you publicly write that there's something off about how they're doing this, go there and explain to them what they should do. You alone know how they should be doing it. You alone know that they're not doing it properly. Nothing should hold you back, literally nothing. It's pikuach nefesh. Everyone is counting on you.

From what I read they are not short on expertise and manpower. Its just an almost impossible task. My heart goes out to the poor family members, this waiting to hear news must be excruciating.

It is frightening. Everyone can react differently.
I would think if nothing else such a tragedy and recent tragedies R"L can remind us to treat each other with ahavas chinam. Extra patience and understanding. Even with those with whom we do not understand or agree .
This is my takeaway. The preciousness of every moment. To make a hachlata to strive to be more present and loving. Even when challenging.
Particularly today 17 Tammuz. The beginning of the three weeks.
May Hashem Shine His Infinite Rachamim upon us all.

Not sure why you are personally offended. I said feels and looks like. But I guess people having observations about things upsets your world.

You publicly posted motzei Shem Ra about rescuers working tirelessly trying to save lives and now you're trying to euphemistically characterize your behavior as "having observations about things".

Your attempt to deflect the conversation by trying to attack my emotional stability is woefully transparent. If you want to attack me along with the rescuers (and I'll add it's an honor to have anything in common with them), try harder and please abide by the rules of this site and do it under your screen name, not amother.

Ppl must’ve been saved immediately and the news isn’t publicizing it. Like I was reading there is a man Edgar Gonzalez missing from the ninth floor but his wife and daughter were saved.
I’d assume there are more ppl who survived immediately.
And unfortunately they are recovering as they work but not enough to identify right now.

There are news reports of people being saved immediately like 35 people in the hospital afaik though this was an immediate report and possibly not accurate.

No one is attacking you and you can’t just declare that I committed an aveira when I didn’t. Your post to me was over the top just because I posted something you didn’t like. I’m not the one attacking anyone.

Um whoa. Calm down. Yes everyone understnds the responders are selfless and risking their lives but it does seem like the rate the organizers are going is so slow that whoever is alive will die. So even if they are saving lives by going slowly there will be just bodies to pull out. In other wreckages people seemed to move much faster and save lives

I’m sure they are doing the best they can in a very challenging situation even though the pace is agonizing especially for the families and friends missing their loved ones.

Or
It is possible that the fire department and mayor are making critical mistakes as they never dealt with such a catastrophe and arr unequipped. They didnt even start searching for a day. The families are allowed to question the decisions when its life and deAth

Of course they can question. Seems there are a lot of eyes on this and resources devoted and hopefully they are doing best possible. I’d thought from what I’ve heard and read that experts from all over the world are helping but surely I don’t know definitively. The governor is also on site and I would think they want to get it right.

Yes, there were a few people saved right away. I imagine people who lived in the apartments that were cut in half, some people survived, others didn't - and being at the edge of the wreckage, were more likely to be found soon. A 15 year old boy was found right away, his mother body was since recovered too. All the people in the intact part of the complex needed help getting out as well - I think some were rescued from balconies.

They have had to deal with rain which makes exposed wires and slippery surfaces more dangerous.
