I can’t even fathom how people were alive and stuck, crushed under debris with no idea what was happening. It must have been suffocating and painful. Where there even coherent thoughts? Could they speak? It just doesn’t make sense that from the 100 people missing, the debris wasn’t moved to find anyone. I know about the boy.... but that’s it???? There are human beings under there . Many were probably alive at first 😢. I feel like they needed to do more, make much more of an effort.

Any rubble they move may make it worse. People can be stuck and alive in pickets of air but could get crushes from moving rubble above. They need to do it slowly and carefully.
Also the rest of the building isn't stable and can collapse in the search teams at any second. Everyone working there is risking their lives to help.

I know that Israel offered help to come
Not sure what the legalities are but they could have been here by now
The rescue teams Can only work in shifts of 10 minutes because of the heat
The more help they get the better chance of survivors

Again, the issue isn't manpower. Any piece of rubble moved wrong could lead to the collapse of the rest of the building on everyone in the area. That's why it's going so slowly.

I understand all about needing to move debris very carefully, but it's been 30h since and not much moved, apparently. Why?

They wrote that it looks like a bomb hit. There are no indications that there was a bomb. Things can change and we are all waiting for answers but they probably won't come for a long while as there is a lot to investigate (once recovery of the missing is complete). Hashem Yishmar.

"I mean it looks like a bomb went off, but we're pretty sure a bomb didn't go off," Burkett added."

The ocean air really corrodes. My mil lives in an ocean front building in Ft Lauderdale. The maintenance is astronomical. The costs to keep such a building in good condition and safe are extensive. It's a beautiful place to live but really not simple at all. Flooding, salt water air, extreme hurricanes, humidity, so many climate factors make these buildings more difficult to maintain.
There were complaints of creaking walls for days before this building collapsed. It's very scary.

The bomb people are referring to is the one the navy set off to test the ships. People speculated that since it registered as an earthquake it might have possibly affected the building. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNDUFQfDn6I

When you see them physically moving the debris, it is no longer a search and rescue effort. It can't be stated enough how delicately balanced this kind of debris is - it is literally a house of cards that could topple at any moment so they have to think of rescuers as well as those potentially trapped.
It is not a question of manpower as the US has highly skilled personnel in sufficient numbers to handle it. It is that the work itself is so painstaking and there can only be limited people doing it at any time.

As others already said, because of the instability of the pile, and the possible instability of the remaining structure. Moving too fast, without ensuring stability, could endanger and survivors in the rubble, and the rescue workers.
They are using search dogs, cameras and sonar in an attempt to find people, so they know where to concentrate their efforts.

There are videos of them searching from beneath. It looks terrifying. There is water. There was a fire. Debris is falling. They have to work really slow so it doesn’t collapse.
They said now they are focusing on sound. But is hard bec lots of twisting metal and falling debris sounds happening.

My friend just told me that she knows of a couple (friends of friends) who live there. They got home from a trip on wednesday night, walked in, and found the freezers had defrosted and meat had gone bad. It smelled so awful she refused to sleep there and they checked into a hotel for the night.
