If the recipe says to "broil fish for nine minutes".
My oven has two broiler settings, 'hi' or 'lo'
Which setting is appropriate for salmon fillet?

Can you link the recipe so we can see the specifics? Which fish, amount, whole or slices?

Broil low is the same as 450 degrees, and technically you don't even have to put the oven on broil. If you're using low for this recipe, it probably needs 13 minutes.
Broil high is 550 degrees and the picture looks like the fish was broiled.
In general, when a recipe calls for broil, set up to broil high.
