I think it's nice that you make an effort to send something at all! It is definitely above the call of duty and it is just plain rude for the recipient to be ungrateful and not put it out!

I agree! It is very ungrateful for someone to put down your contribution to their simcha because it is not "nice enough!"

CM I think the pies idea is a good one, their easy, delicious and are a nice presentation for themselves.
I wouldnt patchke for sholem zachors, men couldnt care, and if there are women there (I abhor that concept but thats fro another thread), and wtvr u send isnt fancy enough, they can choose to put by the men.
Honestly cookies is great but if ur looking for sthing new, I second the pies idea.

For this sholom zochor, I takeh sent two very large applie crumb pies. I made them in disposable tins, which I taped wrapping paper around the sides to make it look nice ...
Then I put it on a small round tray with a doily.
I hope they look good, taste good, and that people like them !!!!!
