yuum, sounds like a good cookbook.
I have seen it, but always felt that I would be taking out an encyclopedia every time I want to make something, so that is one cookbook I dont have. I am now reconsidering!
is it very expensive??

spice and spirit is just one of those basic cookbooks that have all the basic favorites with a few surprises. I think they need to update it and take out some of the margarine but I love it anyway although I make my own substitutions here and there. They did a superb job but if you have a basic cookbook maybe it's not necessary.
why does it seem like an encyclopedia? Because there aren't pictures?

I also love the half and half challah.
We make tuna squares for shabbos quite frequently (some of my kids really really don't like gefilte fish).
The apricot bars are good
Zucchini kugel
Cauliflower kugel
Potato Cholent
There's also a spinach salad recipe with a mustard dressing that my DH loves.

Chocolate moose, your too cute! Did u rewrite the whole cookbook?
Seriously though, I didn't realize there were so many good things in the S&S. I barely use mine.
Chocolate, you've inspired me! I'm going to look up your suggestions and do one at a time!

most of the recipes in S&S is tried and true.I also especially love my veg kishke.no one believes I made it myself! |
I love the veggie kishke too but dh doesn't (he's very particular) so I have to hunt for another kishke recipe, (I've tried the others in there)

I always go for easy recipes!
My 3 favorite easy ones that I AWAYS get compliments on are:
Sweet and Sour Meatballs
Sweet Noodle Kugel
Apricot Chicken
Enjoy!
For those of you that are thinking of purchasing this cookbook...it's worth it!!!!!! So many recipes, so little time!
