For Shabbos: the vegetarian kishke is really good.
I also make my chocolate chip cookies from that cookbook.

quick and easy bagels!!!!
This was a g-dsend, because here in Israel, bagels are not as common and are priced very high for extravagant tourists! When I got fed up with paying a buck and a half for a plain bagel...and 2 and a half bucks for a shmear of cream cheese on only one side I decided it was time to boycott and make my own.
I tried the other bagel recipe without good results..but the quick and easy comes out great every time...
Now my husband wants to open a bagel bakery out of our home...(I hope he's joking because I'm too busy) ...that's too much of a good thing..
Moroccan fish is also good
I like the Tebeet (a Sephardic cholent...interesting dh who is half sephardic, doesn't like it)
moussaka, half and half challah (half wheat half white), basic white cake, chocolate fudge cake, and I'm trying the sweet and sour meatballs and the egg rolls iy'h this week or early next. Wish me luck.

Good to know..yes, eating the bagel in the cafe is much more expensive...
but they aren't hard to make at home...we eat b'datz hareidi anyway, and THOSE bagels are very expensive.

I've used one of the hamentashen recipes every year for the last ten years or so and gotten lots of compliments.
Also the salmon patties.

cinnamon buns- YYYUUUUMMMM!
thx for bagel idea mimivan. I like to send bagels for lunch for my kids, but regular bagels are too big- so they can't eat the whole thing. but mini bagels are too small. so maybe I'll make mid-size bagels

I make the chile con carne, but sometimes add more spice. Also the latkes and hamentashen. Most of the recipes are good.

LA456, why not go through the cookbook with a packet of very small stickey. Mark the pages that hve recipes that look good to you.
Top of the page for mains, middle for veggies, bottoms for dessert, or whatever suits you.
Make a list of the ingredients you need ( ) and then when you're ready to cook, you're all ready to cook !!!!!

Wish me luck. | There's a great meatball recipe on the opposite page called "Italian meatballs spaghetti", it calls for chili powder, which I have never used, that's the only thing I leave out regularly. The main flavor contributors in that recipe are the mushrooms and green peppers, I use whichever of the spices I want to in it, adding basil and oregano though they aren't in the recipe.
I guess I've created my own version

I make the sweet and sour meatballs all the time, everyone always loves them.
I also make hte two tone meatloaf from there, and there is a recipe for brisket, I think it has the word festive in the name (?). Its so easy and comes out great and soft.
The no bake cheese cake, is also good, and so are the quiches.
I am sure I must take other ecipes from there but I can't remember anymore.
