My baby nephew is Elkana. We call him Elky. It's super cute and fits him perfectly. My sister named him after my grandmother, Elka. Also, Elkana was a very important person in Tanach. I wonder why there aren't more of them walking around.

It's a very common name nowadays but going back to that generation I don't hear as many Hebrew names that aren't Dovid, Yaakov or Moshe etc.

Yeah, Christine is better.

Why poor kid? Guess the parents had a good reason and it's better than many

Vichna was DHs grandmother-not Rebbitzen Kaplan. Yospa is another name in DHs family. So is Lapidos Chlavna for a man. He has a cousin named Lapidos Chlavna but he is called by a secular name.

I'm named after a Mereh, my name is Miriam. I also have Zissel, Zlata, and Fruma in my family tree, but those aren't as unusual. Also have an ancestor named Genendel, and another relative named Rella. Another ancestor was named Tchana, not Chana.

I have kids who carry the names Zissel and Vichna as middle names. Also Amram but that wasn't for a relative but for someone who we respected greatly.

Hi to everyone who has figured out who I am!

Vichna is apparently from vita

Khalafta is aramaic curious about this

tchana could be from tseitel, tochterl or daykhe or even tshakana
