Why Would Iran Lie About COVID19 Cases?

I understand why China would have tried to ignore it or underplay it in the beginning, but now China has done a great job being honest and transparent since they acknowledge that it exists and helped to stop it.
Why would Iran lie about the numbers of cases? What do they have to gain? It's not like they are a popular tourist destination so what is the point of lying about the cases?

Why do you assume that China is being transparent?

Is the number of reported dead accurate?
Is the number of reported infected accurate?
Is the number of people quarantined accurate?

I'm not saying that these numbers are all not accurate, but I certainly take them with a grain (or 10) of salt considering it's coming from China.

I'm certainly no expert on this, but a reason for Iran to lie is because they want to show the world that they have the wherewithal to contain and fight the virus without it spreading and causing casualties. They want to brag to the world about what a great job they're doing.
If you remember the Gulf war, Iraq would have a minister of something give a press conference where he would detail how the Iraqi army was annihilating the U.S.. Meanwhile it couldn't be further from the opposite. The entire world (except for some Mideast Muslim countries) knew he was lying. It didn't matter. That's just how they do things when the world is watching.

How did the virus jump from the Orient to Iran in the first place? My guess is that Iran had North Korean or Chinese scientists working in Iran on their weapons/nuclear program. That would also explain top members of the Iranian regime being infected.

Whose to say those reports are even accurate?
Perhaps Iran sent a bioweapon to Wuhan and accidentally infected some of their own people.

Everything right now sounds like a conspiracy theory. It's China and Iran we're talking about. Nobody knows what's really going on besides their governments...

Well I think it's pretty interesting that leading up to Purim HKBH seems to be killing off the Iranian (ie Persian) leaders with this particular virus that Israel is about the develop a vaccine for. Watch the world come begging us for the vaccine. Hope they make it in Yehuda and Shomron so that the BDS can boycott it.
