Chicken tacos - crockpot meal

I don't think I can find a company that makes real tortillas that's kosher. They just have these mezonos wraps made with apple juice.

There are several companies that make real tortillas. Aztec and LaPepita (?) are two of them.

Flour Tortillas

Serving Size : 12

* 4 cups Unbleached all purpose flour
* 2 teaspoons Salt
* 4 teaspoons Baking powder
* 2 tablespoons Vegetable shortening
* 1 1/2 cups Warm water or more if needed

In a large bowl, stir together the flour, salt and baking powder. With a pastry blender, a fork or your hands, gradually work in the lard or shortening until it is all incorporated. Add enough warm water to make a soft but not sticky dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured board and knead for 5 minutes.
Divide the dough into 1/4 cup (3 oz) portions and form them into balls.
Roll each ball into a flat round about 6 inches in diameter and 1/8 inches thick.
Heat a large heavy skillet over medium high heat. Place the tortillas one at a time into the dry hot skillet; cook until brown on one side, then turn and brown the other side.
Remove from the skillet and keep warm in cloth towel.

I did google that recipe. But it seems to be standard. It doesn't seem to be that hard to make. I think the pan needs to be thick and really hot.

I have been wanting to make corn tortillas but too lazy to do it.

I think the things you buy in the store are wraps and not really yummy tortillas like they should taste.

They are not hard to make. The biggest issue is making sure you roll them out thin. We used to make them in Israel when we couldn't find tortillas anywhere.

I don't think any mother of little kids is lazy. I would not care to get distracted while rolling out or cooking them.

Chavamom my husband does this every thursday with the guys. They make the dough and 'bake' it on a big round metal or is it iron looking bowl that is VERY hot. It takes like a couple of seconds to cook. I love them it tastes like a big flat lafa.

Thank you. I made this recipe for Fri nite, and everyone loved it; my husband finished it up Sat morning.

I found kosher enchilada sauce in cans, but I didn't find kosher canned chopped green chiles, so I skipped them (in retrospect I could've just chopped my own..)
