I am wondering if I can make a big batch of matzo ball mix, roll them, and then freeze them uncooked? I guess I'd defrost overnight in fridge and then boil in the soup the day I serve it. Has anybody done this?

Thank you!

We've frozen them cooked. Don't know about raw.

What a fascinating idea, I'd never thought of it!

Please let us know how it goes, that could be very useful.

I freeze raw, uncooked matzah balls all the time. I form them into balls and put them in empty egg cartons to freeze. (You can also freeze on a cookie sheet). Oncezen I put in a ziplock bag in freezer until ready to use. There is no need to defrost before cooking. I then boul them in salted boiling water Boiling them in soup uses up a lot of your soup (although it probably gives it better flavor).
