I really dread Yom Kippur, ever since I had children. I have 4 under the age of 6, the day is so long, I don't fast well, and it is so hard to keep them occupied. It doesn't even feel like Yom Kippur since I can't really get to shul. I tried to get a babysitter but it didn't work out this year.

I dread Yom Kippur, but not as much as Tisha B'av. And I don't have kids yet.

I also dread YK - and I don't have kids.
I get nervous about YK days before. I think that if I chilled out a bit more, I wouldn't have such a hard time fasting.

I know, I used to fast fine, but the last few years I;m just downright miserable. I get a headache right away in the morning if I don't eat something, and from there on it's all downhill. This time though I got those fasting pills, hope it helps. My Dh says it' s mind over matter. He says the fasts are so hard because I dread it so much and fret about for days before. I think I hate Tisha B'av more, because the day part is so long.

B"H the days I had babies I was fasting well, now that I don't fast great. at least my kids are older, so at least I have that.

I'm one of them peoples who do better without food. I feel just fine when fasting. Of course I get hungry later on and would love to have a bite...also, there are not any distractions such as telephone, computer, housework, shopping, so the hunger does strike early on...
May Hashem be mechaper all our aveiros and may we merit the geula shelaima soon!

I also dread any day that's a fast day because I just feel so weak. My husband is an even worst faster than I am. So this past week, we drank a ton of water in preparation, and it really worked!! My stomach still growled and I was thinking about food, but I didn't have stomach pains, headaches, or weakness. After havdalah, I felt like I could keep on fasting! We also spent the entire day in shul since we only a one hour break and it wasn't worthwhile to expend the energy walking home when we could rest in shul.

I have to say, this was my easiest fast yet. I can now finally understand how fasting really just lets you focus on the significance of YK. I can't imagine doing the Yom Kippur davening and stopping for a 2-3 hour seudah and still be focused on the day's meaning, it just wouldn't work. Since I wasn't weak from hunger because I was properly hydrated I was able to focus so much better on the davening.

I had a tummy bug a few hours after yom kippur began the whole night long. Basically all the food and water I had eaten emptied out of me. I asked a dr if it would be dangerous to carry on fasting, (I am pregnant) and he said as long as I feel fine I could carry on.

I was so thirsty, I couldn't think about anything else the whole day. And I was so nervous, I stayed in bed a lot as well.

It seems that those Kalei Tzom pills helped a bit, 'casue I wasn't as miserable as usual, but I did wake up with a tension headache, but that actually got better as the day went on. I also felt weak and my limbs still feel like jelly, but all in all, I made it LOL

LOL LOL Don't talk so fast MommyEsti! 3 years ago , YK was also on shabbos, I was due the Wed. after (Erev Succos) I fasted YK of course, and Monday morning 6 am I went into labor. I'll never forget, Sun night, DH told me that this is my last chance to go into labor, otherwise I should hold it at least until shabbos. I was delivering at a hospital 30 minutes away, si he didn't want to get stuck there for a 3 day yom tov, LOL.
