Older children and teens might be doing just fine in warehouses turned into boarding schools but the babies and toddlers may be damaged for life by forced weaning and separation from mothers. Apparently Pres Trump has even decried this process which started apparently before he took office but has escalated since.

According to one Washington Post article, pediatricians who came to tour facilities were concerned about rules that prevented the holding and touching of children other than to facilitate cleanliness and diaper changes. They saw clear emotional damage to the little kids.

Of course every country has to enforce it's immigration laws and we want to send a message not to break in illegally but it is the small children who are paying the biggest price for this and it appears that the only alternative is to build tent cities which are far from acceptable but would keep families together.

Any solutions?

The solution is changing our immigration laws to be tougher to ship the economic refugees home immediately and building the wall.

It used to be that mothers and kids were not detained at the border. They were part of catch and release. They walked right up to US officials. They came here and immediately got health, dental care, food, and schooling for their kids. This only encourages more to come who supply cheap labor at the expense of our poorest citizens.
