Welcome to imamother. Seems you are new here. |
I can handle it
just feel like I didn't explain myself well enough. I have people in my own family who have done bad stuff and I am very sympathetic to people who make bad choices. I would be mortified though if it somehow became a cause celebre and had people making songs about me. I'm not saying SMR had control over this, but someone did.

Why are you being stricter than G-d Himself? Motzei Yom Kippur is a yom tov because we have been cleaned from all our aveiros. There is a clear concept of teshuva and once one has been released, there is nothing wrong with rejoicing about the freedom. (Which he doesn't actually even have since his restitution obligation is so high.)

You seriously don’t get it. Nobody is celebrating his sins, they are celebrating the miracle of his release. He paid for his sins already. No one said he was innocent. They said he was punished harshly and they prayed for his release and now with his release we all celebrated with him like he’s our brother.

You are seriously funny, crust!
Betcha MY regrets her shocker thread now. Poor timing. Should've gotten in her words on this and then announce her identity. Surely having some serious FOMO, oh, the fun she could've had here!

I think from what I read that there was no real bank fraud. What happened was a real technicality such as that the bank agrees to wait 60 days for repayment although there may be a law on the books that dictates 30 days, but absolutely no banks enforce it. Something along those lines.
And it worked perfectly fine, bank was happy, business was running with a line of credit, until judge who was also investigator got everything frozen on immigration charges that were dropped, business couldn't run and the debts couldn't be repaid.
I may not be remembering with precision but this was the basic idea.
Also please realize that if someone were out to get any one of us, there are so many unenforced laws on the books that almost anyone could be found guilty of something, as ehrlich as they do their best to be.
This is NOT about condoning fraud or anything like that.

Why are we getting back into the details of the case? We are finally b'achdus. Let's not go back to dredging it up. We know there are people on both sides of this. Why do we have to hash it out again? We'll end up with a fighting thread again.
