cut up hears of palm in slices, chopped up red onion, cubed avacado, and sliced in half cherry tomatoes.
the dressing is mayo, a little lemon juice and a drop of salt and a drop of pepper (maybe white pepper, im not sure....I can look it up if you want me to!)
its really good!

Yum, I love that salad - it's always a huge hit.
(I use black pepper and since I don't like raw onions, I keep them out).

My husband requested no gefilte fish this shabbas because he has fish coming out of his ears from this past week. He said he feels pregnant cuz he smells fish everywhere. Oh well, I was planning on trying a new gefilte fish recipe, I guess it'll have to wait.

And for the Shabbat of July 27-28...
So it's just the three of us, although the baby of course doesn't eat. As you can see, we go really light on Friday nights and light in general when we don't have company. In this heat, who has the energy to cook...
Friday night:
Fish of some sort, DH is going to the shuk tomorrow. Either salmon fillet or tuna steaks...
5-layer cheddar, aged gouda, sharp brie and whatever other interesting cheeses hubby finds at the cheese shop.
Lentil salad or wild rice
corn salad
tomango salad
Shabbat lunch:
fresh green salad
chicken schnitzels breaded with breadcrumbs (or matzahmeal) and chopped walnuts
lentil salad or wild rice (whichever we didn't have Friday night)
steamed mixed veggies
tomango salad
Oh, and I'll be making half-and-half challah. And a cheesecake and/or apple pie.
