I'm looking for a low calorie substitute for my mayo dressing
This is my recipe
Mayonnaise
Almond milk (enough to get to the right consistency)
Garlic powder
Salt
Dill

Can I sub parve yogurt for this, or will it taste gross?

We like creamy dressings. No vinegrettes please.

Where you planning on blending the dressing or just shaking? I would use silken tofu, but that needs to be blended well to get the consistency.

DH can't eat soy, and I try to stay away from it as much as possible.
Thinking if using a parve yogurt made from almonds or coconut.
I guess I ll buy a small container try it before making it for guests.
DH is always my Guinea pig for my strange concoctions.

I posted a vegan mayo which is very good. It's in a thread a little below this

I'm not necessarily looking for a vegan mayo, we do eat eggs.
I'm looking for something lower in calories that can substitute mayo.

I bought unsweetened coconut yogurt.
It's only 70 calories for 5.5 oz

I decided to stain it first.
It really has no flavor just the same texture as yogurt, so I think it will work.

Will let everyone here know.

Ok I tried to make ranch dressing and some spicy mayo.
It did not come out good.
It tasted watery, even though I tried to strain it for 2 days.

When I want low calorie creamy dressing I use the canola light mayonnaise, thin it with water, season exceptionally well, mix until creamy. Really good.

Look for a dressing that uses avocado for the fat content and creamy texture.

Light mayo has starch and sugar, something I'm trying to avoid.

Ok just checked 1 cup purée avocado is 368 calories, 20 g carbs.
Of course I wouldn't use a whole cup.
It's better than 400+ calories for 4 TBSP of mayo.

Thanks

Also it's really not about the calories. Not all calories are created equal. Healthy fats will help you more with weight loss than mayo garbage with sugar etc.

Is this avocado oil mayo or avocado mayonaise.
How many calories per serving.

I'm on a doctor supervised low calorie, low glycemic, low carb diet.
I'm trying to find a way to have my cake (read mayo) and eat it too.

blend together (I use immersion blender in one of those tall plastic containers that I can then use to store the dip till it's time to serve it):

bunch or two of dill washed and checked, without the stalks
a clove or two of garlic
dollop or several dollops of mayo (proportion varies)
dollop or several dollops of plain, unsweetened coconut yogurt (proportion varies)

maybe add a dash of salt.

truth is all the amounts vary, but that's the general gist.
