Anyone else have this problem? My homemade chummus goes bad so quickly. By monday it already tastes off when I make it late on Friday. Want to make for
Shabbos (going out rh meals) but afraid it'll go to waste.
Ingredients I use
Chickpeas (dry)
Lemon
Olive oil
Pure techina
Water
Fresh garlic
Salt
Thanks

I used canned chickpeas but otherwise same ing as yours and it lasts for almost 2 weeks. maybe is the canning process that helps...

Mine lasts a week if it doesn't get eaten by then. Same ingredients, but I am careful not to leave it out the fridge for too long.
(Edit: I make from dried chickpeas, no preservatives, and it freezes well, but I do get out small amounts at a time.)

I find that the garlic gets stronger the longer it stays in the fridge, but in terms of freshness I use it up to a week. It probably helps that I take out a small amount at a time, so the entire container isn't sitting out of the fridge for extended periods.

Of course it goes bad sooner. Store bought hummus has preservatives.

Obviously. But from just Friday to Monday already tastes off? Mine lasts a few more days but I have only made from canned beans.

Maybe as Iamamother suggested the preservatives in canned beans keeps it!
I wouldn't expect cooked chick peas as a side to stay good for a week.

It lasts 3-4 days, after that it's a tossup. I also put it at the back of the fridge, which is very very cold.

Thanks for all the responses.
Yeah we usually keep it out for a while. ..that may be it. I wasn't aware you could freeze it. Just for future reference, can all dips be frozen?
Thanks
