I think Yael would like to be a part of deciding where the $$ raised goes to, so I think the best way to do it would be to have the designated individual/s get names or ideas via PM, speak to Yael and then come back and let us know what has been decided. If anyone has an issue with what has been decided they can take it up with that little "sub-committee".
I think this is more private and less embarrassing for those who want to suggest ideas but not in public and not have it be subject to a vote.
Does anyone have an objection to figuring it out this way or have a better idea of how we can choose a tzedaka? |
Actually if someone gives to a tzedaka online (like rccs, bonei olam, etc.) They get confirmation immediately, can take a screencap to prove they donated and get their copy. No middleman. |
Why not the honor system? To have to "prove" you donated sounds a bit condescending to me.

Just started following the thread and would love to contribute! I agree with SplitPea- a family can never have too many recipes to choose from, especially since every family goes for different dishes!

When I donate I like to know where the money is going to. And that it has in fact been donated. I don't like the idea of pooling money and relying on several middlemen whom I've never met (sorry yall) to distribute it. Maybe I'm paranoid but as the other thread proved it doesn't hurt to be paranoid.

Considering what brought this project about, I think people can be forgiven for not wanting to rely on the honor system.

One last suggestion I LOVE the idea if having the option to list our screen names along with out weeks. Get a little credit for our recipes and also be able to thank someone if theirs turns out amazing and a family favorite. Might also give the opportunity to ask a question if something is flopping.
Just an idea but we have a neighborhood cookbook like this with the name of who submitted it and its great.
I called Tzippy last week and told her my family loved her carrot muffins!

This. Can we do that? I already sent in but I'd be happy to identify myself by email.

HUH? I'm not talking about pooling our money and relying on someone to donate it a certain way. Maybe I'm very confused, but I thought the ebook would be distributed to anyone who either 1) contributed to the content, 2) contributed $5 to a specified cause. So why can't I, who didn't submit recipes, let the imamother member in charge know that I donated the money for her to send me the ebook? If I had to send a screenshot to "prove" I donated I'd probably not really be interested. And let's say the honor system breaks down and I or someone really HASN'T donated? Who really cares. It's not costing anyone anything, it's just recipes. I'm sure MOST people will donate.

what probably would you have sending a screan shot? a lot of us worked hard typing up recipes.
the same way a frum store might ask to see a receipt on a return 9what you don't trust me?!?!?1)
maybe you thought you send but didn't, maybe you told your husband to give but he forgot, maybe the donation didn't go through and you didn't pay attention. maybe you ask for for the book saying you will give tomorrow but forget? so many possibilities.
I think if giving though someone (maybe yael can set up a donate button through this site its pretty easy to do!) or proving you give makes you unconformable maybe just sit this one out?

So, the problem is that some people chose to remain anonymous. I am not sure how we can make it look good identifying some weeks and not others?

Well, yeah, that's what I thought too. You donate, if people want proof you can show a screencap, or not, you get your cookbook, end of story. There's no need for this, is what I'm saying: Quote: | Would anyone who has contributed recipes like to volunteer to collect ideas for which Tzedaka we will donate to and agree to be responsible for sending whatever funds we raise on to wherever we select? |

Use "Amother" and the rose avatar for the anonymous contributors.

I think that there are so many people on imamother that are frequent posters that we know need the help. I think that after this whole drama uniting to give to one of these people will be a zechus and a nice thing.

Why don't we just do both. Either donate to a Tzedaka of your choice or donate to a mass group. Some people might like paying the $5 to a cause where money will be gathered by one individual. Some may not. Either way, its irrelevant as long as we are all giving to great causes

OK.
IF you want to be identified (rubber ducky, you specifically asked so you do not need to do this), please email me ASAP with your SN and a specific recipe that was included to help me identify your week.
Many thanks.
