The thread about the whole wheat cookies inspired me to start this one. I haven't had good luck with binah recipes so far, and I've saved a lot of them. Maybe I'm trying the wrong ones! So let's start a thread where we post which recipes we have tried and whether or not they went over well.

Hearty potato soup- post tishah b'av issue
2 onions
4 stalks celery
4 cloves garlic
8 potatoes peeled and diced
1 TBS olive oil
1 TBS Consomme
1/4 TBS white pepper (this sounds like a lot) Maybe it's 1/4 tsp?
2 TBS Corn starch
2 cups milk
Sautee onions celery and garlic till soft
add potatoes, consomme salt and pepper.
Fill pot with water to cover potatoes- bring to a boil.
cook on a low flame for 2 hours.
dissolve corn starch in cold milk. add slowly to soup cook for another ten minutes.
Freezes well but you have to puree it so that you don't get a watery potatoes.
If you freeze it add the milk after you defrost.
Also tastes delicious without the milk if you want to keep it parve as well.
This recipe is outstanding. I don't have the Binah anymore so if anyone has the recipe to double check the white pepper please do.

sbs wrote: | chocolate mint surprise brownies
8 T margarine
8 oz. semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 c sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1/2 c flour
1/4 c cocoa
12 mint cream cookies (paskesz in green box)
preheat oven to 350, grease muffin tin very well
melt choc and margarine in double boiler, remove from heat, whisk in other ingreients, mix until smooth
place a mint cookie at the bottom of every muffin cup, pour batter over the cookie and fill almost to the top
bake about 20 minutes, until toothpick comes out with moist crumbs attached, it should be slightly fudgy
cool in pan, pop out |
Do an advanced search with your name as the poster and as many words as make sense in the query - like brownie mint eggs

I searched and found it but couldn't get it linked
didn't think of cut and paste
just went through some recipes, and here's others that I've made, some are really old though
chicken w/ garlic stuffing
mini hush puppies
salmon sushi rolls (really nice, actually wrapped in flattened white bread)
squash pie
creamy turnip mash w/ crispy shallots
deli salad w/ fried pieces of wraps for croutons on top
wonton salad w/ apricot honey dressing
bbq chicken salad (grilled cutlets on salad, dressing is bbq sauce and mayo)
apple cinnamon bundt cake (was a preview from the peppermill cookbook before it came out)

Did they specify which consomme to use?
