I took Dining In outta the library and I am amazed at how many of the recipes I want to make!! I have shabbos menus for the next two months and new recipes for the yom tovim to try!! What a great cook book.
My only beef is that some of the more complicated recipes should have a photo to show the outcome. For example, cinnamon twists?? I read it, but not sure what they are trying to get across...

Dining In Again was the second one. Dining In is the first

I know this is and old thread, but cookbooks are always a relevant topic!
I made the no margarine sugar cookies and they were GREAT!
However, when I tried the crumb chocolate cake, it didn't totally work, the crumb topping fell in and it didn't look so pretty, but I'd possibly try it again and make some adjustments

this sounds like a really good recipe book! Are most of the recipes in it simple or more patchka type?

I made the no margerine sugar cookies today. The recipe did not state what to do. So, I put the ingrediants in order given. The dough did not hold together, but once rolled between wax paper I was able to cut out circles. They are great! Nextime I will mix the wet ings. first with sugar, then add the dry. Use a little less oil. I sprinkled colored sugar ontop, not cinn.

No Margerine Sugar Cookies
4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
3/4 cups oil (use a little less)
1/4 cup orange juice
1 cup sugar
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla extract
preheat oven to 350. Line cookie sheets with parchement paper. combine dry ingrediants in small bowl, set aside. Combine wet in a larger bowl, when combined add dry ingrediants. combine until a smooth dough (mine was crumbly, but it still worked). Roll out betwen waxed paper to 1/8th of an inch cut out shapes use a spatula to transfer to prepped cookie sheet. They can be next to each other, but not touching. Sprinkle colored sugar or a mix of sugar and cinnamon on top. bake for 13 minutes (book says 20 minutes, but my first batch was dark brown remove to cookie cooler rack.

Buttery Mushroom Soup
2 small onions, diced
1.5 (6 oz) sticks butter
2 t. lemon juice
2 to 3 10 oz. boxes fresh mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
2/3 C. flour
10 C. water
6 t. pareve chicken soup mix
2 t. salt
1/2 t. black pepper
2 C. milk
Saute onions in butter; add lemon juice.
Add mushrooms; cook 10 minutes.
Add flour, mixing well.
Add rest of ingredients, except milk.
Cook for 1 hour.
Blend with hand blender, leaving some pieces.
After blending, add milk and cook another 15 minutes.
Sorry for not posting sugar cookies earlier! The dough for it was a bit crumbly, so I just mashed it together with my hands, took a bit, flattened it, and used the top of a pam spray as a cookie cutter. It was a perfect size! (I couldn't be bothered with rolling out dough, so that's why I used my hands)
