Can I defrost a loaf and make either balls or slices and then re freeze what I don't use? Is this safe?

I would slice while still mostly frozen take what I want, and only refreeze what is still frozen. I have no idea if u can refreeze it-but I doubt it would taste so good after.

It is not safe to refreeze thawed food unless you cook it before refreezing. If there are still ice crystals in the food, meaning it's not fully thawed, you can refreeze, but you will lose quality. Why not slice or make balls from the whole thing, cook it all, and freeze the portion you're not going to use right away?

Cut it in half when it's still sorta frozen and put one half in the freezer if you don't want the whole thing. Refreezing thawed stuff isn't very safe.
