dear all,
a question I ask every time I make it. The loaf gefilte fish, do you drain it after boiling, or keep some of the broth?

I don't save any of the liquid because no one likes it.

I bake, not boil, my gefilta fish logs, with about an inch of water in the pan. I always spill out any liquid that remains. I can't stand boiled fish or the jelly.

My family likes fish with the sauce. However, some like it completely dry, like caterers do. You can wrap cooked gefilta in paper towel and then in silver foil. Try both ways and see how your family likes it!

I leave some liquid. Nobody eats it. But my mother told me that keeping some of the liquid (maybe 1/2 inch or so) will keep it from drying out so that's what I do.

I remove the loaf and carrot from the pot, place it in a pan or container, and store tighly covered in the fridge.

I cook it with pike skin so the liquid gets a bit hard-we like it so I save some of it along with the fish.

I don't like it baked but my DH prefers it that way so Ibake it with a bit of liquid in it's paper but I don't drain it.

I usually bake my fish, but when I do boil it, I drain it.

I like it drained. Mil makes the fish from scratch and then saves the jelly. They call it "fish yuch" which is how a bunch of us feel about it.

We definitely like it on the dry side. I not only drain it, but I usually put it in the oven for a few minutes. I've also baked it in the past, but my family prefers it boiled, then baked lightly.
