My oven broke this week and I can only use the stove top.
Does anyone have any ideas for desserts that do not have to be baked? Not fruits though, I already have cut up fruit.
Also if you ladies have any ideas for a side dish that doesn't need to be baked that is also great. (I have salads already I am looking for a filling side dish to go with the salads)
Thanks!

For deserts you can do trifle, pareve pudding, jello molds and pareve ice cream. For side dishes, you could do fried luchson kugel. If you need starchy salads, there is potato salad and macaroni salad. Falafel balls also taste good cold.

good luck!
before we kashered our over after we moved, I went a couple of weeks without an over. keep in mind that MANY things can be made in the microwave, as long as you have the right types of bowls to put them in. ie. corningware.
for desserts, you can make ice cream pie or another parve frozen dessert.
side dishes - salads, bowties and kasha, rice.... I've made oatmeal/cranberry cobbler/kugel in the microwave. I did a google search for it!
good luck!

mummy24 did the oven get fixed yet???
I went without an oven for 5-6 months, when we moved into our apt. the landlords took forever to get it replaced. b'h we have a fully fleishig brand new oven, I can even leave things inbetween the burners, without worring about droppiing it onto a hot trief surface - couldn't handle it before.
we cooked on a george foreman our chicken, burgers etc...
we don't have a microwave!!
b'h we went out every shabbos, so no shabbos cooking!!! (before dd was born, actually conceived - wow time files!!!)

after the fire they said there was nothing to do to fix the oven it just needed to get all the fumes from the fire extinguisher out. I rarely use it and when I do I get nervous that it will smoke up the kitchen, plus now I will not use the self clean cycle so I want to keep the oven pareve. so I have learned to cook all my chickens and meat on the stove top.
then we also had a fire in our toaster oven, so if anyone can recommend a good reliable brand for a big convection oven that would be great, then I could use htat for milchig, small baked ziti, pizza bagels, etc.

There is something called a "wonder pot." It is a deep pan with a hole in the center and a lid. You put it on top of a "chimney" (although I have used them without it) and you can bake cakes, roast chicken, potatoes. Anything that goes into the oven .
I use them a lot on Pesach. I think their great! (Especially if you like cakes with a hole in the middle!
