This was recently discovered when we were having a pidyon haben for my brother's baby. Since it was the first pidyon haben in our family, it was a pretty big deal. When asked why my oldest brother never had one, my mother said she had a mis before, and never thought he was "eligible." My brother asked his Rav, and was told that if it was an early mis, he needed to get a pidyon haben. Turns out it was in the early stages of the first trimester, and my brother who is almost 50 had to get a pidyon haben.  |
sounds really cool - to be old enough to enjoy/remember you own pidyon haben. I guess they didn't need a silver platter to carry him on.

a few years ago there was a fellow in our shul who made himself a pidyon as a twenty-something. He is a BT who never had one as a baby.

I have a friend who was 18 at her baby (infant-not just younger) brother's pidyon...
(parents divorced and the father married someone who never had children, her step-mom's first was a boy)

This afternoon, my cousin is making his second Pidyon HaBen. He made one for his first Bechor, got divorced and remarried, and today is the Pidyon HaBen of his second Bechor.
