spice the tuna steaks with a little salt, black pepper, sweet paprika and crushed garlic. refridgerate for one hour
fry onions, add tomatoes if you wish ( cut up) and fry a little more
add the steaks , frying them ten minutes on each side. check that they are cooked through

you can skip the refridgerating part if neccessary

if you want more of a sauce you can add boiling water during the last 8 minutes or so,

Heat a good non-stick frying pan/skillet & add 1 T oil. Start frying steaks, season upside with salt, a little garlic powder & lemon juice. Fry 2-3 minutes tops. Turn, repeat.

If you cook it for much longer than that it goes dry & leathery, even in a sauce. Tuna should be almost swimming off the plate.

Hopefully it's not too late... I find regular salt & pepper to be rather bland, so do teriyaki tuna steak usually.

I marinate tuna steaks in equal part OJ/soy sauce, 15-30min will do.
(Feel free to "customise" with chili, chopped scalion, chinese five spice powder)

Heat oil (preferably toasted sesame oil) in skillet/griddle, once it's really hot, cook tuna.
Don't overcook--the middle should be still a bit pink-ish. Top with round pepper or
sesame seeds if you wish.

Alternatively, you can marinate it in Italian dressing and grill. Comes out very flavourful.
