Weekday fish fillet recipes (not salmon)

I often buy tilapia or whiting fillets on sale but always end up making the same thing - either frying in breadcrumbs/corn flour or using this crispy batter recipe from ra_mom (really good!):

but we could all use a change. Do you have any easy but good recipes? Preferably something without tomato sauce (but I will take any recipes really).

Plain sauteed with olive oil and chopped herbs? Or plain baked in a foil pouch with other vegetables (like chopped peppers, mushrooms, onions) and seasonings?

You can also do oriental style steamed (ok microwaved) fish. Marinate for 5min-10min with chopped scalion, finely julienned fresh ginger, a bit of dry wine/sake/sherry (feel free to skip this one) and either steam or microwave till just cooked (don't overcook). Add a small amount of soy sauce. Great with other steamed/stir-fried vegetables and rice.

Tilapia is also very good with a little mayo and spices (I.e. garlic, salt, papper, fish seasoning etc.) bake in the oven for about a half hour. It always goes over great!

I usually just pour a little lemon juice on top and sprinkle with some lemon mesquite fish spicing (by weber). or I sprinkle on some garlic powder, onion powder and dill. then I bake it at 400 for 10-20 minutes- till its all white

Take fish filets, coat with mustard, cook covered at 350 for 30-40 minutes.

Even my kids like it and you can't get much simpler.

In Israel there is a spice called "Fish Grill" - it's also delish and easy to just sprinkle on the fish and bake.

4 tilapia fillets
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon butter, melted (I just use olive oil)
2-3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Rinse tilapia fillets under cool water, and pat dry with paper towels.
Place fillets in baking dish. Pour lemon juice over fillets, then drizzle butter or oil on top. Sprinkle with garlic, parsley, and pepper.
Bake in preheated oven until the fish is white and flakes when pulled apart with a fork, about 30 minutes.

DH takes the fish usually tilapia or whitefish and coats it in egg and ground almonds and whatever seasoning he likes and fries it in a pan. It tastes great and saves some carbs from not using breadcrumbs. You can also mix the breadcrumbs with the almonds. I like lemon squeezed on it after. Sorry for not being so exact.

I ended up doing something similar. I dipped the fillets in flour, then egg, then bread crumbs (that I flavored with paprika, salt, pepper and parsley flakes) and fried in some oil. It came out with a really yummy crust.

Would this work with nesicha? What fish do you usually use?

Pan Seared Tilapia
• tilapia fillets
• olive oil
• fresh cloves garlic, crushed
• paprika
• dried parsley
• salt

In a plastic cup, combine olive oil, garlic, paprika, dried parsley and salt to make a very flavorful paste.
Smear each fillet generously with prepared paste.
Heat frying pan over medium-high heat.
Pan sear tilapia for a few minutes on each side, or until done, working in batches as necessary.

This recipe is from imamother. I play around with the spices, I sometimes add chili powder for an extra kick.

It comes out really moist and delicious.

I make a fish fillet parmesan. (Sorry no recipe). I dip in egg and then flavored bread crumbs, saute in a little oil until they are lightly browned and crisp on the outside, then transfter to baking pan, cover each with a dollop of tomato sauce and some shredded cheese, and put in the oven for about a half hour. Really tasty, especially for those who need a little coaxing to eat fish.
