It's flat b/c it's a torte. It doesn't rise.

We did it. Made it today. Two changes, used half a cup of pareve liquid whip instead of oil and half a cup of sugar only.
It was terrific. Finished it off with dh over dinner.
After dinner actually.
Bas Hinda, you owe us 3,000 calories!
But it was so good that Dh wants it for his birthday next week!
Thank you!

What I meant was that an equal amount of torte will be flatter in a larger pan than in a smaller pan. And that might be better b/c it's so rich.

Sounds delicious - can I make this with egg replacer (DS is allergic to eggs, and I hate making things like this that he can't have)?

My friend is allergic to gluten, I was thinking of making her this for yom tov. I have a question though- CM do you make it with the coffee? and is that teaspoons of coffee grounds or the coffee drink (once its been dissolved in hot water)?

The experts say to add a little cofee when you use chocolate, to help bring out the flavor. You can use instant coffee or a little (kosher) Kahlua.

Keep a tiny sized Godiva near your baking stuff.

But one caveat - when and if you make this, if it's for pesach, don't use the cheap cottonseed oil. use safflower or another good oil.

I think this site should have a place where you can "store" your favorite recipes, like a recipe collection "box", cause I forsure would put this one in it.....either way I will make these in the near future. tx

You can bookmark it. That's what I do with all the recipes I want to try. On the top right it says "set a bookmark for this topic" click on it. It goes right into your bookmarks section.
I'm always looking for new cakes for Pesach. My husband won't eat anything with nuts in it so I'm excited for this one it sounds really good.
