my husband show uo with a huuuuuge piece of pickled turkey. how do I cook that? like a pot roast?

Never heard of pickled turkey. Maybe call the butcher where he got it and let him suggest what to do with it.

Is it dark meat turkey? Boil it until soft. Add fresh garlic cloves and bay leaves if you'd like (you don't have to as it's already pickled. Slice when cool.

I like to cook it w/ garlic, onion and red pepper cut in strips. fill w/ water to cover about 1/2 the roast. I let it cook for about 5 hours.
if you have any ? -just ask.......

how about the history that u need to put in boiling water twice and then cook? should I go for that???

That takes away from the pickling taste.
Just rinse the roast well, bring to a boil, and simmer until soft.

I never did that. I like when the "pickled taste' goes into the water ...when its done cooking I poor the water into a container add some constarch - and you have a tasty sauce!

ok ladies, it was delicious!!!I cooked in water for 5 hours and from that liquid + some fried onions, garlic, mushroom and mushroom soup mix:)
