GR, can I have ur pineapple lukshen kugel recipe...it sounds good... |
I hope I can remember what I did.
Cook a 10 or 12 oz bag egg noodles (broad or medium)
Add 1 can pineapple tidbits minus the juice, a sprinkle of raisins (can leave them out if you want).
Mix in 1/4 cup sugar, a drop of vanilla, a bit of cinnamon, about 1/4 cup oil.
Add 5 eggs (make sure noodles are cooled first)
Mix well, place in 9x13 pan, bake for 350 for about an hour or until the top is a bit brown and crispy.
Enjoy.

Gosh, even simple by some people's standards would be a lot here! I don't cook huge meals for Shabbat anymore, we eat too much and we have noone to invite around here.
Evening we're having halla (bought) with egg salad, tuna salad or humus
Vegetable lasagne
Cake and icecream
Kids are having mashed potato with fake mince/beans/tomato (leftover from lasagne), icecream dessert. But they'll eat and be in bed by the time we eat.
Morning
Halla with egg salad, tuna salad or humus
Hamin (we virtually NEVER do one anymore (and if we do it's soup) but special treat since no meat at dinner)
Fruit and/or bought pastries

Pleasure. Dh overheard me on the phone last night saying I don't think we're having anyone this week (aside for a couple of sleepovers, one who probably wont show up) and he yells, "Yes, we're having..." and lists 7 others. So, your Dh is more than welcome to join the crew!

You are a tzeddekes for taking guests so short of notice. DH and I agree to discuss guests I.e. no surprises. I'm 2 months pp and have yet to invite Shabbos guests! Can you post the oriental spaghetti salad recipe?

Trust me, I'm far from a tzadekes. And btw, I was right. That other sleepover guest isn't coming.
Oriental Spaghetti Salad:
1 box spaghetti, boiled and drained
1 bunch scallions, sliced
sesame seeds to garnish
1/2 c. oil
1/2 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. sugar
dash of sesame oil
For shabbos day, I often dice grilled chicken breasts or take leftover chicken off the bone (from Friday night) and toss it together. I serve it with the cholent.

It's just me and DH for Friday night so we will have chopped liver and dips, then roast chieck, roast potatoes and vegetables, and I'm doing parev bread and butter pudding to use up my challah.
Shabbos lunch is dairy: Melon with berries to start, then baked salmon, breaded fried haddock, potato salad, tamoato and pesto puff pastry tart, mango spinach salad and a few small salads, and then banoffee pie and fruit salad or dessert.
