Most of the grade schools here are starting on Sep 9.

my son is actually starting the 3rd but his first full day will be the 9th

Also when R"H is early in September. My boys have their first day (but half a day) on September 1st, the 2nd they are there almost a full day and then the 3rd is their first full day.

If you need real-life examples, I could give you at least three, but I'd rather not divulge with which schools I am affiliated. Also, in some parts of the US school typically starts in August.

I am aware of one local Jewish school starting on September 2nd, and another on August 27th. FWIW, Baltimore City public schools are starting August 31st.

Sept 1st for boys, 2nd for girls and 3rd for high school (they have an activity on the 2nd)

Yup, every year, every school. 1st day of classes from daycare to 12th grade is September 1st. The end of the year varies a bit (June 30th for everyone except high school & daycare, approximately 10 days earlier for high school -- exact dates depend on exams -- and August 7/8 for daycare).

Here in CH we always start the day after Labor Day (think West Indian Day Parade on Eastern Parkway) but that's slowly changing. Beats me how the kids will get to and from school.

GR I'm assuming you're talking about a boys school.

The girls schools generally start 2 days after labor day. The day after labor day is full of mandetory teachers' meetings. They were talking about pushing it up one day this year and starting on Tuesday the 8th instead of Wednesday like usual but I don't think it's going to happen.

I can't imagine a CH school would even think about opening school on Labor Day - especially OT when the busses can't run and it's dangerous to walk.

Yes, boys schools.
Do you know when OT starts this year? I haven't seen the calendar, so I don't, which is why I'm asking, if any OT parents know when school's starting.
