dd wakes up often in the middle of the night to go to the toilet - she walks all the way, eyes open, and goes all by herself. Last night, she walked into the living room, as usual - but said she doesn't need the toilet. Her sibs started telling her to go back to sleep - I argued with them that it's pointless, since she's asleep anyhow. Nobody believed me.

This morning, I told her the story - and she was in disbelief! "What, I walked around during the night and said all that, with my eyes wide open?!"

She asked me to take her picture the next time it happens, so she could see it for herself - but I told her that she wouldn't be able to tell in the picture that she's really asleep.

It's quite common. One of my kids used to try to escape so we had to put the chain on the front door. Once we had friends round for dinner & DS decided to go walkies. Fast asleep, he wandered in to the living room & pulled down his PJ's & "watered" the carpet. Then he trotted back off to bed. We were speechless. Then ROTFL! I don't know what causes it, but most kids grow out of it quite quickly.
