You women really strong out there!! Its also not my first choice to watch, but I really do get abit scared during night and thats my lifesaver. Look at my first night alone, I'm up at this unearthly hour as you see from the time I'm posting...! (live in Europe)
I had a very hard exhausting day, up since 7am on a Sunday! (after sleeping 5 hours) sent dh off and looked after 4 tired kids...I am so so tired, but sleep would not come. And tomorrow (oops! today) is back to work at 9am..
Wish me luck not to fall asleep @ work!!

I also had a tough evening/night, Im not used to doing it all myself, and the kids woke a bunch of times at night. But I was so tired I kept just falling asleep again. BH I was able to talk to dh at 1:30 a.m. and again at 7 a.m. . Watching DVDs for me is a big nisayon but totally dead wrong, and holding back is a big gevurah . I used to watch, but now that Im BH blessed with 2 kids I dont think I have any heter in the world to watch... BH Im not depressed...

It's definitely not easy. As soon as the kids are asleep the house becomes so very lonely. I found that it's better to go to sleep early so the morning arrives quicker! Especially now that my nephew has been waking my kids every morning at 6:00 am I'm totally zonked. I've been asleep so far every night by 9:15. (Except for motzei shabbos when I had to wait up until the zman to make havdala for myself. I warned dh that if I grow a beard from the havdala wine, it's all his fault )

Btw, you can make Havdalah on orange juice, and other "mechubadig" drinks.

My husband doesn't "let" me make havdalah. Says women don't. So, when he's not around I go to neighbors.

Joining the club... DH en route to E"Y, and I'm Home Alone
DM insisted I come sleep at her house..... MIL offered my big niece to stay with me... But I chose to decline the offers!
'Twas a bit spooky last night... Locked all locks, including the door chain (which never gets chained!)
And, yes. I did get a hold of a DVD to watch.....

My rav also allows me to make my own havdala when dh isn't home.

My dh is almost coming back already. He went on Wednesday evening and he's coming back this Wednesday evening. I spend most of the evening at my mother but still sleep at home. It is lonely but the worst was lighting candles alone friday night. I went to my parents for meals and havdala as we live very close. I think even my dh wants to come home already. I spoke with him today and the first thing he told me is that he's coming home soon. I guess the saying is true "absence makes the heart fonder".

Yep! quite true. I want to go to sleep already, but the nerves from fear of waking up again tonight, does not let me do that, although I am exhasted!

I did the opposite when my husband went away a few months ago. I'd be up so late, till 3 a.m., just so that I'd be tired enough to fall asleep without being afraid.

I'm used to my privacy already. It would feel weird to sleep myself (without dh) in my parents' house. JMHO.

Exactly! thats what I like to do, but I am SO SO zonked from being up last night and slogging all day - work until 3 and kids from then, that my eyelids are closing,,
Wish me luck! BTW over here we're allowed to hear music already - its 10.30 and I'll fall asleep next to my MP3!
