I am making israeli vegetables with cuscous the recipe calls for Tumeric - I ran out of it and was wondering if I can use Hawaij instead?

You can use what you like. Turmeric and hawaij are not the same. Maybe do a test on a small amount and see if you like it. I think that if I were missing turmeric, I would just leave the spice out and just make do with the rest of the ingredients.

I bought Israeli spices in Brooklyn, I think Ave. M or U or something not close to 13th Ave.
