Bas Hinda's (Passover) Chocolate Torte: we eat it all year !
I think the title says it all. If Bas Hinda had not discovered this amazing creation, I'd not only be hungry and grumpy all Pesach, I'd be thinner too !!!
The cake is so good I made it in Marcheshvan for my son's birthday and it disappeared !
Ingredients:
6 oz chocolate - any kind (I used the bag of Oppenheimer's pareve choc chips which are delicious)
1/2 cup oil, any kind
Melt. If you have a big enough pan, you can mix the cake in there too.
3/4 cup sugar
1/8 tsp salt, any kind
1-2 tsp coffee, optional
3 eggs
1/2 cup cocoa powder
Add the above ingredients, mix thoroughly, and bake in small (8" round) greased pan for half an hour at 350 deg.
(I just quadrupled the recipe and baked it in 2 9 by 13 shallow pans.)
YOU WILL JUST LOVE THIS CAKE !!!!!!

you need both. if you only have cocoa, you need a slightly different recipes. I've seen them for pesach, I just haven't tried them, that's all.

Aw, thanks CM!
The cake is GREAT! I'm going to make it tomorrow in fact.
To give credit where it's due this is from the King Arthur Flour Website. I modified it by using Extra Light olive oil instead of butter (the rest of the year I use transfat-free margarine).
It's extremely rich. I'm making two but making the "traditional" strange chocolate nut cake recipe I usually make for the kids.

I made this, but added 1/2 a cup of potato flour (=2 cups when x 4). I didn't know whether it was supposed to have potato flour and it was accidentally missed out, or whether that was the original recipe. Anyway, it was quite rich enough like that and yes - delicious! Thanks bashinda and cm.

Sounds delicious but I don't even want to think how many calories it has..does it come out very thick and heavy?

There is no flour in it, so it's actually dietetic!

What's 3000 calories beini uveinech?
When I was a morah chayelet, teaching women, I was "paid" in food. Lots of it. Good food. Sometimes I would have to refuse and they would be insulted. For example, if I were offered "ka'ach moroca'I". They would say it's dietetic since it's not made with sugar... just flour and a few bars of margarine.

yeah right.
I'm even more fun. I tell people I don't eat sugar, fats, meat, chicken, fish, gluten, citrus, tomatoes, vinegar, mushrooms, yeast, milk products, wine, liquor, or anything fermented.
They usually offer me lettuce.
I'm so happy I like lettuce.

shalhevet: glad you enjoyed it. It doesn't have any flour. The original recipe did not have flour. It had espresso powder and butter instead of oil. It's so rich. Then they top it off with a ganache. The King Arthur people are great but they are sweet tooths!
I ended up being sick (boo hoo) almost the entire Yom Tov. The good thing was I didn't eat the cake. The bad thing was I didn't eat anything else either. Oh well.
friedasima: so you eat beans, nuts, and fruits and vegetables as long as is it isn't tomatoes. all year? Wow.

I don't know if this is what she means, but is it supposed to be relatively flat b/c it's so rich? I doubled it and made it in a pan that's about 3/4 the size of a 9x13, but I think it would have been better had I made it in a 9x13 and had it flatter.
