there's an old yiddish saying that translates to "when it hurts, you yell"
anyway, so my son comes home from school yesterday and in a very raised voice he's telling me about a bad incident that happened to him in school. mid-way through his recounting, I tell him, "y r u yelling? I'm standing right here and I can hear u just fine." so in the same raised voice he answered, "I'm yelling cuz I want u to feel my pain!!!" for a 7.5 year old kid that's a pretty eloquently heartfelt way of expressing feelings.
I hope he'll always possess the self confidence needed to express his feelings, especially since men are conditioned to equate suppresed feelings with being macho.

that is so cute. my friend's kid said to her that " I am angry but I am not going to let my anger ruin my good day." he is four. I thought that was pretty good for a four year old.
