I have a brilliant idea for a podcast but have no idea about how to start one!
Anyone with experience to share?
- what mic do I buy?
- what computer program do I record on?
- what computer program do I edit with?
- what platform should I upload it to?
- does it make money with a certain amount of listens/downloads…?
What else am I missing?

Just record voice messages to yourself on whatsapp. Upload them to a platform. Pay for ad free or otherwise don't pay. Start lean and small and see where it takes you.

If you have an iPhone or iPad there is a very good audio recorder app (Audio Memos), and the built in mic is pretty high quality. I wouldn't use WhatsApp because it condenses audio to a lower quality.
You can do basic edits using Audacity or Ocenaudio (both free).
Libsyn is a great platform but not free. Basic account is cheap though.
Don't expect to make money in the immediate future.

You can run ads in your podcast, recommend products and include an affiliate link in your episode notes, or sell products connected with your podcast subject. Some people use their podcast as a way to advertise their services.
