He goes through our whole fridge at least once a week and finishes everything that is out of date or close. He does the same again his parents house
.

But he won't eat hummus, falafel and tehina 🤷 I think he has something against middle eastern food.

My husband does the same with leftovers. He can't stand to waste.

I thought that was only my husband! But he goes through my parents' fridge, not his.
I, on the other hand, am quite picky.

Wow. Most things.

He doesn’t eat….

Any pasta with cheese. Plus the only pasta he’ll eat is elbows with sauce cooked a certain way.
Any cheese except for on pizza, or a calzone
Any salad or vegetables other than cucumber- the cucumber must be peeled, chopped tiny and dressed with lemon, canola oil and table salt.
Any chicken on the bone. Cutlets that are fried only he’ll eat.
Most meats (lamb chop, deli ect) except steak and meatballs
Broccoli
Potatoes- he’ll only eat them only mashed or fried or in a cholent.
Fish- he’ll only eat my mils and sometimes mine
Tuna fish mayo (to be fair I couldn’t touch it either)

So much more. Argh 😠

And my kids inherited the his limited tastes buds!

Lucky me!!!

I feel you. Mine is competition for him.

What he eats is a much shorter list.
Mine will eat pasta, but will only eat melted cheese and it needs to still be hot. He will not eat cooked fish, but will eat Bering at a kiddush, Golden Taste/Tuv Tam/sally Sherman tuna, or will fry lox or make sardines in my house (eww).
He only eats dark chicken or fried cutlets
He will eat all red meat.
No beans/lentils/tofu/soy
No quinoa/farro/bulger/wild rice…(just white rice and pasta or white potatoes) Goodman’s vermicelli rice is his favorite.
No sweet potatoes, squash of any kind, avocado, beets.
Veggie-he eats raw string beans, raw red /orange peppers, Israeli salad if it doesn’t have parsley, cooked cauliflower and broccoli. Tomatoes in pasta sauce, but not raw or roasted.
No fruit (other than a red delicious apple, red seedless grapes, canned peaches and watermelon)
He does not eat anything near sesame oil, vinegar of any sort, wine, chili powder or anything spicy, ginger, cumin or curry (but will order out schwarma), BBQ sauce. The list goes on but I forget.
And it needs to be fresh, no left overs.

And I grew up with a father who will eat anything. If it is not moldy, he will eat it not to waste and so you don’t need to bother. Furthermore,if you are cooking for him, the more interesting and more new ingredients you use the better.

He will eat most things. As long as it looks somewhat palatable...

Though he doesn't like tofu or tempeh. But I can sneak it into things and he will eat it.

Lot of foods my husband doesn't like but these 3 he has an aversion to and wouldn't touch.

Mushrooms- he says he doesnt like the rubbery texture

I do make dishes with mushrooms like a veg medley, mixed with chicken, like sloppy Joe, stir fry, or lomein. He picks out the mushrooms and gives it to my kids.

Something like orzo with Pastrami and mushrooms, or greenbean with Pastrami and mushrooms for yt, I will make him separate without mushrooms.

Eggplant- his mom never cooked with

Tomatoes- because his father forced him. If I do a salad and put in whole grape tomatoes, he will just not eat the tomatoes, but if it's tomatoes that are cut up, he won't touch entire salad, because the juice goes into the salad.

Sushi, he has a policy not to taste, so he won't have an added expense.

Lots other things but it doesn't come up so much, because my other family members don't like it either, so I don't serve it, to my family. Only I'll eat it.

Chummus, techina, Olives, mustard, dips.

He's not fond of tuna, lox, pasta dishes, melted cheese dishes, but he can eat it sometimes even if he doesn't love it.
