How can I do compote in oven?

I slice green apples (or a mixture) and cover with water. Bake on 180 (350) for 3 hours. Some people like it nearly mashed falling apart and some like it firmer, holding it's shape so after 2 hours, check if you like it. It should turn reddish. You can try add some pears or plums too.
