Are the more expensive Kitchen cabinet painters much better?
Does the job done by the ones who charge upwards of $5,000, look much better and last much longer than the ones who do it for less?
Has anyone used a reasonable Kitchen cabinet painter that they were happy with, and would use again?
Im looking for recommendations.

You can't generalize because you can hire someone who is expensive but who does terrible work or someone who is moderately priced can do very good work.
That said, painting cabinets so that they look good and last is not cheap and so any bid that is below what recommended painters ask is probably going to do a poor job.
It is very labor intensive to do properly - they have to be sanded - they have to be primed - they have to be painted correctly with good quality paint.
Some of the best jobs are done by painters who take the doors off site so they can be painted in "clean" rooms - I.e. those without dust. They are generally spray painted for a smooth finish.
However, in general, paint is inherently more delicate than a wood finish. And even a good paint job will not be as "strong" as a factory finished paint job.

ask the painters about their process. The more expensive painter might have a much better process.
Also ask about materials.
More expensive paint is going to last longer.
