I want to make shepards pie. Can I sub instant potatoes?

Honestly, it won't taste as good. As for a recipe, I would sautee 2 pounds of ground beef in a large saucepan with a diced large onion, 2 diced cloves of garlic, and a small bag of diced peas and carrots. Cook for about 15-20 minutes. Add a small can of tomato paste and herbs, salt and pepper to your taste. In a pot, boil 6 large potatoes and peel and mash them with half a stick of margarine and a cup of soy milk when cooked. Transfer contents of meat and vegetables in saucepan to a large casserole dish or aluminum pan. Cover surface with mashed potatoes and baked covered for 45 minutes at 400 followed by 15 minutes uncovered.

Yes but only do a thin layer, as you dont want the instant potato flavor to overwhelm the good meat.
