As long as it takes
to climb a mountain
into the sky
against your will
bare-skinned and bloody
your breath knocked out by
unspeakable views.
As long as it takes
to make peace with
a new normal
when all your limbs
have been dismembered
leaving nothing but
the heart of you.
As long as it takes
to get used to waking
from a dream
of falling
in a house with no floor
and inside a dream
wake up once more.
I am here
as you cry an ocean
and shed your layers
day after day.
I will cradle you
in this madness
my love and stay
as long as it takes.
