Mummyof6, I do agree with you hashkafically. The litvishe derech hachaim runs through my veins, from my father, brothers, and now DH. I have the same confusion/ questions as you do.
That being said, you must realize that this is not Mali or Motek or GR or Ozmom deciding the hanhagos that A takes precedence over B. In that case your arguments would be 100% correct. Rather, these minhagim were instituted by Gedolei Olam and we must recognize this whether or not we follow their hanhagos. Lubavitcher chassidim are following their da'as Torah and Ozmom is right that it is not our place to question.
While I believe your intention is just to understand and that you mean no harm, maybe it is time to put this issue to rest as "Eilu V'eilu..." After all, whether one follows the Litvish derech, Chassidish/Lubavitch derech, or any other, we all have the same goal (hopefully): to bring nachas ruach to the Ribbono Shel Olam. THAT goal is not being reached by the direction this thread has taken.
