Lately Ds seems to have lots of unchanelled energy. In the summer/ spring/ fall he exerted his energy in daycamp, riding his bike, playing outdoors with neighbors.
Now that the weather has turned cooler and playing outdoors with neighbors is not an option, ds returns home from school after sitting in class until after 5:00 PM with lots of unchanelled energy.
Other than having him evaluated for OT, any suggestions for activities on how to help him channel his energy?
Any advice would be appreciated.
TIA!

Get a small trampoline and let him jump away.

We have one and it does not help.
FYI an OT told me that rythmic jumping on a trampoline will help the child calm, which the child usually needs an adult to keep him at it.
Random jumping on and off the trampoline may just make him more hyperactive.
In any case, he has no interest in it at this point.

There are certain activities that help calm a child down. Something with deep pressure.
