I showered in my Shevy (to wash) - AM I CRAZY?

my mother completely cringed when I told her I did! She made me doubt whether I'm taking good care of my top of the line over 2 grand wig... but it seems to be fine...?? I was told I can treat it as my own hair... so how can I really take good care of it?

lol, I heard tha some ppl take it in with them but you cant wash it like your own hair. you need to wash I in a downward mottion and not all over the head and whtvr.

I wash my shevy shaitels by myself all the time. I leave it on a shaitel head and wet it under the running water in my bathtub. then I add shampoo but I don't mush it the way I do my hair. I just rub it gently and then rinse. and then of course conditioner and rinse.

If you are careful, it is the same if the shaitel macher does it. Some even use regular shampoo anyway! If you can style it too, you can save a lot of $$$$

You can't really say that. Just b/c she didn't damage it beyond repair this time doesn't mean that it doesn't need extra loving care. Remember it's got to be conditioned, too.

If you're busy washing yourself in the shower, how do you take (good) care of a sheital?

I would think once its washed on her head u can take it off and wash the inside and then your own hair. I think part of the reason to wash while wearing is not to mess up the part, besides while wearing it u can have two hands and be under the water. actually sounds convinient..

ive washed my sheitels at home many times.
always on a head though.
as mentioned the shampoo/ conditioner should be applied in a downward motion.
also the water temp shouldnt bea s hot as when u shower ur self or the color will ruin faster.
I use a shampoo for color treated hair. (I think even the dark wigs r colored)
also to keep the place of the part, I stick a bobby pin in from the front along the part line while its being washed.

actually, you only wash european hair shaitels pinned to a head. so technically it got washed the same way a shaitel macher would wash it. I only know this because I used to wash shaitels for my shaitel macher before I was married. she doesn't let everyone wash by themselves though, only the people that she taught how.[/quote)

I wash & set sheitels too. The closed nets need to be washed on a head inorder they shouldn't stretch, but I always take a moment to wash out the inside anyhow.

I don't see how putting it on your head & showering saves time. If you do it in the sink you see what you are doing. Also if I see the water gets really dirty, then I always rewash it, before conditioning.
