Does anyone know how to make miso soup? Or even know what miso is?
I've tried looking for recipes on google and they all seem really complicated. Does anyone know of an easy recipe for it?
I'm also looking for a tofu soup recipe I know some miso soups have tofu in them so if anyone knows any tofu soup recipes that would be helpful as well.
Thanks!

I try to make it all the time. One bag of miso (fermented soy bean paste) lasts a long time (a year or two) in a container in the fridge. Mix a few tablespoons with a liter/quart of water or so. Add a splash of soy sauce and cubed tofu and bring to a boil. Add a sheet or two of cut up nori (seaweed), simmer a few minutes and turn off. I serve it with diced scallions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Sometimes, I add a little broccoli. Yum!

Miso has a paste-like consistency so you'll need to dilute with bits of hot water.
I found regular dark-brownish one a bit on a salty side, so I use half and half of light brown
(or rice miso), which has a milder taste.

I boil water in pot (1cup per person, plus one more cup), boil vegetables (shredded carrots,
chopped onions, broccoli) briefly, once it's al-dente, add diluted miso (you'll have to taste as
you add). If you're using tofu, cut in small cubes just add a few minutes before turning off
fire--it cooks very quickly. I also like topping with finely shopped scallions or corriander leaves.
Or cooked fine eggnoodle to make a complete meal.

Virtually fat-free and takes no more than 10min to make!

Where do you find miso paste? In which section of the store?
Also is it called miso paste or soy bean paste?

Whole Foods carries kosher miso paste...it's in the section with Japanese foods/ethnic foods.
