What do you think of giving kids the roles of Haman and Vashti in a purim play?
I put up a Purim play for my class (pre 1A) but didn't give any kid these roles, instead I just have the narrator say these parts.

I see no problem with it - but you know better how to gauge the parents.

Initially, I had though of giving them the roles of Haman and Vashti as part of the story of Purim.
But, then I changed the play after one of the mothers said she doesn't want her daughter to ever remember that she played the role of a bad character.

I remember in 2nd grade when we did a play, all the students were allowed to chose which character they wanted to play. I chose Vashti - I thought that was a really cool part. In the end there were like 10 queen esthers but only 2 vashtis. So I got a really large part. (I was the Vashti before she got ugly and the other girl was Vashti after she got ugly. I guess I was naturally the prettier of the two 8) -jk). I think if the kid wants the part and the parent doesn't oppose, why not?

OP, I like the way you're doing it. I would be uncomfortable with my kids playing the parts of resha'im (and everyone would just laugh at me). I might feel pressured into keeping quiet about it.

Thanks for replying!
Just wanted to say that the play came out really nice B"H and was a real succes.Instead of Haman and Vashti we had a recorded narrator and had the words come up on a screen.
